cellulose

Durable cellulose from miscanthus

Sustainable

Biobased and fossil-free, high-quality regenerative raw material, better recyclable or biodegradable end products, possibility to achieve transition objectives, ahead of time.

Business as usual

Immediately applicable in existing production processes, no large investments required, long-term storage possible without loss of quality under dry storage conditions

Application

Suitable for e.g. paper, cardboard, composites, asphalt mixtures, packaging material, but also in health and pharmaceuticals.

Sustainably produced

Miscancell utilizes a unique refining process to extract high-quality cellulose from miscanthus. Cellulose is a vital raw material for an increasing number of applications in addition to existing markets such as the paper industry.

Currently, wood is the largest source of cellulose. By utilizing miscanthus, cellulose can be produced in a significantly more sustainable manner, including shorter transportation lines and more efficient growth of miscanthus compared to traditional raw materials such as wood from trees.

HIGH-QUALITY CELLULOSE FROM MISCANTHUS

Competitive Position

Raw materials such as cellulose are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive due to a rapidly increasing market demand. It is expected that this growth will continue.

The world’s production capacity is suffering from climate change. Unexpected production stops due to (forest) fires, floods, and droughts have driven up prices. Deliveries have been under pressure due to bottlenecks in logistics for several years. These, in addition to the increasing demand, are the main reasons for scarcity. It is expected that these influences will not decrease.

Cellulose production from miscanthus contributes to this growing market demand in a sustainable manner. Miscancell offers a sustainable and long-lasting alternative that can compete with current solutions in the market.
Tests prove that the quality of the cellulose produced by Miscancell is of comparable or better quality (e.g. pulp viscosity and different fiber lengths) than the products currently offered on the market.
